Easter 2016 shop opening hours in South Australia examples are listed here. Easter 2016 falls on the weekend of Friday, 25th March to Monday 28th March.

The basics

Scroll down for specific examples. Last year someone chose not to and complained about what is exempt and what is not.

Good Friday – All CBD, metro and country shops CLOSED.

Easter Saturday – CBD, metro, can open until 5pm, some country areas given an exemption may be able to trade.

Easter Sunday – CBD – 11am to 5pm, metro CLOSED.

Easter Monday – CBD – 11am to 5pm, metro CLOSED.

Exempt shops can trade if the proprietor wishes to do so.

Some small supermarkets, bakeries, garden nurseries and hardware stores will be open. Suburban shopping centres will be open on Easter Saturday.

Rundle Mall

Selected stores will be open from 11am to 5pm on Easter Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

Central Market

Good Friday – CLOSED
Easter Saturday – 7am – 3pm
Easter Sunday – CLOSED
Easter Monday – CLOSED

Harbour Town

Good Friday – Closed
Easter Saturday – 9.00am – 5.00pm
Easter Sunday – 11.00am – 5.00pm
Easter Monday – 9.00am – 5.30pm

Some stores may not be open so see their individual website for opening hours.


Selected shops may be open.

As always, plan in advance in case some stores remain closed. This post is merely a brief guide showing a few examples. It is not meant to be an exhaustive list with every shop in the state listed because some proprietors may choose to have the weekend off.
