What does “ranga” mean? This is briefly explained here.

A ranga is a redhead in Australian slang. Here is a definition and meaning of the word in a bit more detail.

Ranga origin, definition, meaning

Although a “ranga” is often used as slang for an orangutan (the supposed origin of ranga), it is in Australia at least generally defined as a person with red hair. It is used to describe a person with red hair instead of insulting them because of their hair colour (like some people think it is – an insult). The word “ranga” was officially included in the Australian Oxford Dictionary 2013 after plenty of people referred to then Prime Minister, Julia Gillard, as a ”ranga” because of her red hair.
